Entering into the coaching industry in today’s overcrowded marketplace can be an incredibly daunting task. When you’re in Facebook groups that have thousands of members or your scrolling the Instagram account of your friend who has over 25K followers it can feel like an overwhelming task. Most new coaches desire to have huge following but when followers can be bought with a few dollars and a flash of the boob, numbers aren’t so important. If you’re new to online coaching industry there are a few things worth prioritizing in order to build a real and engaged community.
After having evolved my coaching business multiple times over the past few years I can truly say that these three things are foundational to building your brand and growing your business.
So what 3 things should you prioritize when you’re new to online coaching?
1. Clarifying your message
Too many people overlook this vital piece of the puzzle and truth be told, even I failed to fully comprehend the value of creating a clear and succinct message early on in my business development.
Who is your client, what is the one primary want of your client, what is standing in the way of your client getting what they want and how does your business help your client achieve their goal?
Donald Miller recently released the book Building Your Story Brand and I highly recommend reading it. Using the power of story to refine your message will not only captivate your audience but it will quickly convey your message in a powerful way that has them hitting the buy now button!
2. Bridge your own story
An incredible way to connect with prospective clients is to not only understand their story and why they are coming to you for help, but also to share pieces of your personal story that allows people to feel connected to you.
The trick here is to ensure that there is a bridge between what you’re sharing and what the your reader is looking for.
When people read your story they are looking for the correlation between what you are sharing and what is going on in their own personal life.
If your story is completely unrelated to your readers’ story then it is unlikely that you will captivate them long enough to turn them into fans or clients.
3. Build your network
You’ve heard that no man is an island right? Well it’s true. The process of building your new business is largely defined by the quality of relationships that you build both with other professionals and with prospective clients.
Join Facebook groups, connect with people on Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn or whatever social platform you enjoy. Attend workshops and conferences. Be intentional about building relationships both online and offline.
The process of building an online business can be both fun and daunting, but the process is an awesome journey to becoming known in your field!
