If there is one thing you should do for your business in 2018, it’s to make an effort to retain clients that you love! Sometimes you can be so focused on acquiring new clients that you ignore all the amazing clients who are already invested in your services.

5 Smart Ways to Retain Clients You Love

I’ve found that by making it a priority to treat my clients extra special, I have not only improved loyalty but also created a strong referral-based business.

So what are a few ways that you can retain clients that you love?

1. Pay attention to the little things.

If you want to keep your clients happy, it’s important to give attention to the little things. Coaches that have loyal clients tend to have one thing in common; they take special note of things that others brush off. For example, asking your client how they prefer to learn and then recording short videos vs writing long emails, or making note of personal plans your clients mention and checking in to see how they went can make a massive difference in how connected your clients feel to you.

2. Send some snail mail.

I totally love the digital age! Being able to run and operate a business from your laptop is a wonderful thing. However don’t be so consumed with automation, social media followings and high-tech systems that you forget how to be human. When I sign on new clients, I ask them for their physical address in addition to other contact information. This way I am able to send handwritten notes, and gifts like books or coupons so they can purchase their first set of business cards.

3. Attract loyalty by being loyal.

If you want loyalty, then you definitely need to be loyal yourself. By showing loyalty to your clients, you’re going to be much more likely to get loyalty in return. Showing your customers that you care about them and that you’re committed to helping them grow their business is important. One way to do this would be to engage with them on social media, join their Facebook group and take a genuine interest in supporting the programs they’re working on.

4. Reward your clients

This is a great way to retain clients you love (and one that few business coaches speak about!). I actually have a referral system where I offer clients the chance to make back their coaching fee by referring others who may benefit from my support. This means that my current clients have the opportunity to make bonuses that they can reinvest into more coaching, while also spreading the word about my business. Cool right?

Other rewards might be to give your loyal clients access to a special event or workshop you’re hosting. Think about some ways you’ve been rewarded and start incorporating them into your business!

5. Get the professionals in.

If you’re struggling to secure repeat business, you could always go the route of hiring some professional assistance. Companies like Hello World are experts in people-based marketing, and they can devise you a loyalty strategy. While you’ll have to fork out some extra money for the help, these services are designed to make you more money in the long run!

Learning how to retain clients is bound to have a big benefit to your business. If you take the time to implement some of these strategies you’ll likely wind up with repeat business, as well as new clients!
