If you’re brand new to the world of online business then you’ll quickly learn that using social media to get clients is an essential step to your growth. But how can you ensure that you’re making yourself known on social media in a way that actually lands you clients and gets you sales?
I’ll let you in on a secret…having hundreds of thousands of followers doesn’t necessarily equate to making bank. In fact, I have several friends and acquaintances with robust social media accounts and skimpy bank balances. Yep, being seen is not all that powerful if you aren’t really known.
So how can you ensure that you don’t spend the next 5 years building a social media account of unengaged followers who don’t buy your products or refer anyone to your services?
Here are a few tips for using social media to get clients and sell programs.
1. Strike up conversations and show support to others.
Have you ever posted a comment inside of a Facebook group only to have nobody engage with your post. You may have gone to the effort to give a nice little introduction and no-one even welcomes you to the group or acknowledges your presence? Feels pretty crap eh?
Well, that’s probably how other people feel when they post something and no-one takes an interest.
Show support to other people by engaging with their posts. Welcome them, strike up a conversation and remember that social media is about community.
If you make social media all about being seen but never giving back, then you’ll put yourself at risk of ever really being known. And being known is what gets you the sale.
2. Spend as much time following and engaging with potential clients as you do the big names in your business.
Finding clients on social media is not just about following accounts that inspire you or people you hope will notice you. It’s about meeting new people, getting to know prospective clients and building new relationships.
All of my current private coaching clients I met by connecting with them on a personal level on social media. So if someone follows you that has a less than interesting feed, don’t disregard them as someone not worth knowing. Follow along to determine if they are someone you’d like to enter into a relationship with.
3. Invite people into a relationship with you.
If you’ve done a good deal to really connected with prospective clients on social media, asking them genuine questions about their life and taking an interest in the things they’re sharing, then there may come a time when it’s appropriate to invite them to connect with you on a phone call.
If you’re intent is to use social media to get clients and sell programs then inviting (or even challenging) people to a call with you is necessary for the sale.
Often times people don’t even know that you have a service that is on offer so it is your job to remind them regularly what that service or program is.
