So you’ve been hanging around the online world for a little while now trying to build your own business but you just can’t seem to get the traction that you deserve. When you first started to build your business you thought it was going to be much easier to get traffic to your website and sign clients. But it’s been months now and you’re starting to wondering if you’re ready to hire a coach.
I’ve been a big advocate for coaching even before I was a coach myself. A good coach will teach you new skills, provide a new perspective, challenge and empower you to step up to the plate.
So should you keep slugging away on your own or invest in a mentor? Here are signs you’re ready to hire a coach to help you in your business.
1. You’re ready to put your money where your dreams are.
One of the hardest things to part with is your hard earned cash. I remember the first coach I ever hired charged $1000 for 3 months and at the time it felt like a huge deal.
This year I’ve invested over $20,000 in coaching services. Although the price may seem a little extreme to you, this is the price I’m willing to pay to leverage my dreams.
If you’re prepared to spend money on vacations, clothes, university education and all types of other things but you’re skimping on a coach then you may not be ready for it.
You’re ready to hire a coach when the price of your dreams is worth every penny.
2. You’re ready to put in the work.
I have several clients right now–some who have shown that they’re ready to do the work and others who’ve shown they aren’t quite there yet.
If you’re investing thousands of dollars into a coach, then you better be ready to do the work.
Growing an online business is not for the faint-hearted. Despite the fact that many online gurus and influencers make it look like child’s play it really is a big commitment to learning, understanding and implementing.
3. You’re ready to take responsibility for your outcomes.
Understand that entering into a coaching relationship does not guarantee you results. Your new coach will not be your savior. You are still responsible for your own outcomes.
This means that you have to be ready to ask questions, take an active role in coaching and not rely upon your coach to tell you what to do and bring all the answers.
If you want to survive in the online business world you have to be a go-getter and an action taker. If you are inclined to depend on other people for solutions to problems you need answered, then you may need to examine your behaviors before investing in a coach.
4. You’re ready to become known online.
One of the scariest things for new service-based business owners is being visible and having people see and know what they do.
I remember when I first started promoting my work online. It was a very awkward experience for me feeling like I was arrogantly showcasing myself.
But in order to grow an online business you have to become known. You have to step out of the shadows and into the spotlight…There’s just no way around it.
